About Us

Gong Sahne is an independent artistic platform based in İzmir/Turkey, founded by Filiz Bozkuş Al and Kerem Al — a life partnership transformed into artistic collaboration.

The seed of Gong Sahne was planted when Filiz, a trained actress who had stepped away from the stage to raise a family, returned to performance in 2022 with the creation of GONG. Her background in theater, combined with over a decade of learning from Japanese artist Iida Shigemi and the tradition of Mikusano Mitakara, led her to explore movement not only as expression, but as a path toward wholeness — where body, mind, and soul move as one. This perspective shapes her artistic language: not only to create, but to share, to restore, and to reconnect.

Kerem, a medical doctor and multi-talented artist, brings his deep interest in healing and life into sound and light. As the sound and light designer of GONG, Kerem's contribution is not merely technical — it is integral to the work's inner life.

In GONG, sound is not background; it breathes, holds space, builds tension, and transforms. Together, Filiz and Kerem shape the visual and auditory landscape of their performances as a shared act of creation.

Gong Sahne is an ongoing exploration — a search for ways in which art can invite us into deeper presence, connection, and remembering. It grows through questions rather than answers, and seeks to listen as much as it expresses.

As they continue to tour GONG, they envision future works shaped by the same principles: intimacy, authenticity, intuitive attention, and healing — on and beyond the stage.

Gong Sahne is an entirely independent initiative, shaped and sustained through our own efforts and resources. As we continue to learn and grow, we aim to share our work with wider international audiences. We carry a deep wish to meet kindred spirits, to collaborate across disciplines and cultures, and to express ourselves through multiple forms as we evolve.
